What kind of proposal to submit?
At this time we're looking to get an idea of what types of sessions urban farmers are interested in leading during TUFFS. At this time we're envisioning TUFFS to have:
EXPERIMENT-BASED REPORT BACK SESSION If the session you'd like to lead is based on conducting an experiment on your farm site and you'd like support with that, we can help you figure out how to design the project/experiment, as well as identify what support you'll need to execute it (via research, materials, etc.). If you already have an idea of how to design and execute your project/experiment, we're here to offer you a platform to share the outcomes (good and/or bad) with your fellow urban farmers.
PRESENTATION/WORKSHOP/SKILLSHARE/ETC. Similarly, there's the option to lead a session during TUFFS based on a farming outcome, skill-share, urban farming experience, or some other informational/interactive session that you think fellow urban farmers would benefit from. TUFFS is here to support in the planning/execution to the least or most extent you request.
GROUP SESSIONS Finally, if you'd like the platform to share something with your farming peers during TUFFS but don't necessarily need an entire session, perhaps you would like to be on a share-out panel with other farmers. Below are a few questions to get you started in participating in one of these categories. We'll follow up soon about next steps.
Topics could fall within the following categories (as well as ones not included here):
Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
Soil management/care, compost
Youth & Community Building
Food System Issues (e.g. Wages in urban farming, immigration, etc.)
Discounting Urban Farmers as not “real” farmers
“Unusual” Urban Production (ex. Ginger, mushrooms, myoga, rice)
Mutual Aid Efforts
Anti-Racism Resistance in Agriculture and Growing Spaces
Farmer/Land Steward Self-care

NOTE: You can absolutely have multiple projects on a single farm and present those in a single session. Also, the point person/people leading the session can be anyone from the farm manager to seasonal staff to youth participants.
